Lanka to You

What does home mean to you?

Is it the delicious smell of curry waiting for you after a long day at work?

Is it feeling THAT breeze rustling the coconut trees everywhere on the island?

Or is it the light, comfy attire and squeaky rubber slippers you slip into when you return home?

Is it what you refer to as "Amma's House"? Where everything is colourful and vibrant?

Home is the ease of being. Being yourself. Home is a space of rejuvenation.

Home is the place where you keep your family bonds and strengthen them.

It’s where you eat the best food. The best home-cooked food on the entire island.

It’s also where you connect with nature - from the veranda or the courtyard. We invite nature inside our home to be a part of us.

Home is where secret family recipes mingle with flavours of heritage and tradition. It’s more than a place; it’s a coming together of culture and nostalgia shared in every bite.

With Apay Lanka, you can now connect living at home and abroad.

After spending years away from Sri Lanka, we found a way to bring that island comfort to the United Kingdom in a genuine way.

Through the nourishing experience of food, art, and homeware.

Our mission is to create a community around the heartwarming feeling of home and culture.

It's tied to our values of helping local causes that build communities. The brands we represent are ethical, sustainable, and communal.

We decided to start with authentic Sri Lankan food because - let's face it - there's nothing quite like it.

Our first brand, Derana Foods, is a small factory that began out of the owners’ garage, Mr. and Mrs. Jayaweera. It supports a small collective of people who make everything by hand - even labelling the jars!

If we can help anyone feel like they can connect with the island through what we provide, we’d be proud and inspired.

Apay Lanka is for those who want to connect with Sri Lanka through authentic cuisine. It's for those with food cravings who want to help local communities in Sri Lanka.

It's about satisfaction and connection. And it's about pairing cuisine with art and homeware.

We intend to bridge the different versions of ourselves that we become when we live in our homes away from home. And we hope that, through us, you will too.

K.B.
